Pancreatic peptide AA-11 with a twelve-botanical complex - liquid concentrate, 120 ml
Pangluin Forte® combines the pancreatic tetrapeptide AA-11 (pancragen) with concentrated rosehip juice and twelve plant extracts traditionally used in nutritional programmes supporting metabolic processes. The formulation is organised around a single organ: every component either acts on the pancreas directly or reduces the functional load placed upon it.
The peptide represents the more recent element. AA-11 is a tetrapeptide with the sequence Lys-Glu-Asp-Trp with tissue-specific activity toward pancreatic cells. It supports intracellular metabolism, participates in the regulation of cell renewal and differentiation, and supports the normal functional activity of the organ. Short peptides operate at very low concentrations for a structural reason: they act as signals rather than as substrates, and the body reads them rather than consuming them.
The botanical component is considerably older, and the ingredient list reads like a page from a regional herbal. Rosehip, nettle, calendula, yarrow, centaury, bilberry, St. John's wort, meadow and field-margin species, documented in European pharmacognosy for centuries. Yarrow carries the genus name Achillea, after the warrior said to have dressed wounds with it. Centaury takes its name from Chiron, the centaur of the old accounts who was supposed to know every plant worth knowing. Bilberry acquired a reputation during the Second World War for improving night vision among pilots — a story that proved to be wartime misdirection rather than pharmacology, although the anthocyanins of the fruit remain of genuine interest for the small vessels.
Three of the extracts belong to a category that merits explanation, since it represents one of the more elegant mechanisms in digestive physiology. Calamus root, centaury and yarrow are bitters. Their characteristic compounds, acorin, gentiopicrin and achilleine, act upon bitter taste receptors in the oral cavity and stomach, and that signal alone produces a reflex increase in digestive secretion: gastric juice, bile, pancreatic enzymes. No absorption is required for the effect to occur. The organism simply responds to the taste, as it has done for as long as people have eaten plants. More complete digestion in the duodenum means correspondingly less compensatory work for the pancreas.
FIELD OF APPLICATION:
- support of normal carbohydrate metabolism as part of a balanced diet
- support of the functional condition of the pancreas
- an unbalanced or irregular diet, as part of comprehensive nutritional support
- periods of increased physical and mental demand
- support of the body's antioxidant defences
- support of the balanced condition of the vascular system
- insufficient digestive secretion and sluggish bile flow
- heaviness after meals and irregular appetite
- an additional dietary source of glycyrrhizic acid
- maintenance of general wellbeing and energy level
BENEFITS:
The formulation supports normal carbohydrate metabolism as part of a balanced diet and supports the functional condition of the pancreas. Three further layers sit around that centre. The first is antioxidant defence: rosehip contributes ascorbigen, a bound form of vitamin C, together with flavonoids, while grape skin supplies resveratrol and proanthocyanidins that inhibit lipid peroxidation in cell membranes, a point of some relevance, since pancreatic β-cells and acinar cells carry an unusually high oxidative load. The second is the vascular network: bilberry anthocyanosides and gotu kola asiaticoside act on capillary walls and basement membranes, and an organ as metabolically demanding as the pancreas depends entirely upon the quality of its microcirculation. The third is the digestive environment surrounding it: liquorice and calendula for the mucous membranes, yarrow and calendula for bile flow, nettle for elimination and for the oxygen-carrying properties of blood.
What holds the composition together is an old principle, and one worth stating directly: an organ is not supported in isolation. Address the tissue itself, supply its circulation, calm the inflammatory background around it, and reduce the work it is required to perform and the same problem has been approached from four directions rather than one. That is the purpose of a twelve-plant formulation with a peptide at its centre.
