Digemax® 120 ml is a natural complex with lactulose and plant extracts for normalising gastrointestinal function. It contains a unique formula based on natural ingredients: apple and blackberry juice concentrates, lactulose, extracts of aloe vera, chamomile, mint, yarrow, liquorice, St. John's wort, calendula, marshmallow and fennel. Peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum develops when there is an imbalance between aggressive factors (hydrochloric acid, pepsin, Helicobacter pylori) and protective mechanisms (mucus, bicarbonates, regeneration). Lactulose is a synthetic disaccharide that is not digested in the small intestine and reaches the large intestine unchanged. There it is fermented by beneficial bifidobacteria and lactobacilli, serving as a nutrient substrate (prebiotic) for them. This stimulates the growth and activity of beneficial microflora, suppressing the reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms. Lactulose lowers the pH of intestinal contents, creating unfavourable conditions for putrefactive and conditionally pathogenic flora. It also has a mild laxative effect, improving peristalsis and relieving constipation without causing addiction. Lactulose promotes the synthesis of B vitamins by the intestinal microflora.

Aloe vera extract contains polysaccharides (acemannan) that form a protective film on the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines, protecting it from irritants such as hydrochloric acid, pepsin, bile acids and pathogenic bacteria. Aloe stimulates the regeneration of damaged mucous membranes, accelerating the healing of erosions and ulcers. It has an anti-inflammatory effect, reducing swelling and hyperemia. The antibacterial properties of aloe are effective against Helicobacter pylori, a bacterium that causes gastritis and peptic ulcer disease.

Chamomile extract contains apigenin, chamazulene, bisabolol - flavonoids and terpenoids with pronounced antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effects. Chamomile relaxes the smooth muscles of the stomach and intestines, eliminating spasms and pain. It reduces the secretion of hydrochloric acid, decreasing the acidity of gastric juice, which is important in hyperacid gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. Chamomile also has a carminative effect, reducing flatulence and bloating. Peppermint extract contains menthol, a terpenoid with a cooling and antispasmodic effect. Menthol relaxes the lower oesophageal sphincter (which may be undesirable in reflux) and the smooth muscles of the intestine, facilitating the passage of food and gas. Mint stimulates the secretion of bile and digestive enzymes, improving the digestion of fats. It also has antimicrobial activity against Helicobacter pylori and other gastrointestinal pathogens.

Licorice root extract contains glycyrrhizin and flavonoids with powerful anti-inflammatory and enveloping effects. Licorice stimulates the production of mucus, which protects the stomach wall from the aggressive effects of acid. It accelerates the healing of ulcers and has an antispasmodic effect. Glycyrrhizin also exhibits antiviral activity. St. John's wort extract contains hypericin and hyperforin, which have anti-inflammatory, astringent and wound-healing effects. It is effective for gastritis, enteritis and colitis.

Calendula extract has anti-inflammatory, wound-healing and antiseptic effects. It accelerates the regeneration of the mucous membrane and reduces inflammation.
